Setting the Stage for 2010
After four days of testing and evaluations by the International Bobsleigh and Tobogganing Federation (FIBT), the International Luge Federation (FIL) and VANOC, the Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the Whistler Sliding Center is ready to begin the next phase of construction.
Whistler Sliding Centre
Located on Blackcomb mountain, the new Whistler Sliding Center will be one of only 15 sliding tracks worldwide. With a competition length which consists of a 1450 metre concrete track. This project will be a long lasting feature to Whistler’s already world renowned ski and entertainment resort post for the much anticipated 2010 Winter Games.
New Whistler Olympic Park
The new Whistler Olympic Park, located in Callaghan Valley will be the site of many events such as, cross country skiing, biathlon, ski jumping and much more. Whistler Olympic Park offers cross country ski trails that cover over 55 kilometers and was built for the beginner skier to Olympic caliber skiers. Night skiing is enjoyed with enthusiasm, with a fully lit 5 kilometer trail, snowshoeing and ski jumping are other features to the Whistler Olympic Park.
