Whistler Road Report - October 24, 2009
Alpine Paving will be continuing the Highway 99 Whistler Improvements Project along the Sea-to-Sky corridor on the south end of Whistler. Alpine is pleased to notify you that the project is coming to an end over the next few weeks.
The majority of the contract work has been completed with only minor paving and shoulder reconstruction is remaining with site clean-up and shoulder finishing along the length of the project.
The following is the construction schedule and associated traffic control measures to be implemented:
Saturday, October 24 and Sunday, October 25
Scheduled Work Activities:
- Miscellaneous paving works and site clean-up on the east and west sides of Highway 99 between Function Junction and Village Gate Boulevard;
Traffic Control Considerations
- Saturday, 8:00am to 2:00pm: Short sections of lane shifts / diversions along the length of the work area with less than 5-minute delays for traffic control personnel assisted truck access and egress;
Work by Others:
- BC Hydro and their subcontractor AllTeck will be stringing line in the hydro duct bank at various locations between Whistler Road and Whistler Way;
Traffic Control Considerations:
- Saturday and Sunday, 7:00am to 5:00pm: Short sections of lane shifts / diversions along the length of the work area with less than 5-minute delays for traffic control personnel assisted truck access and egress;
Week Of: October 26 to October 30
Scheduled Work Activities:
- Miscellaneous paving works on the east and west sides of Highway 99 between Function Junction and Village Gate Boulevard;
- Barrier installation on the east side of Highway 99 (adjacent to northbound lanes) between Spring Creek and Alta Lake Road;
- Barrier installation of the east and west sides of Highway 99 at Nordic Hill and between Brio Entrance and Village Gate Boulevard;
Traffic Control Considerations:
- Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm: Short sections of lane shifts / diversions along the length of the work area with less than 5-minute delays for traffic control personnel assisted truck access and egress;
- Monday to Thursday, 10:00am to 2:00pm / Friday, 10:00am to noon: Short sections of single lane alternating traffic patterns along the length of the work area with less than 15-minutes delays for off-loading materials and backfilling;
Work by Others:
- BC Hydro / AllTeck will be stringing line in the hydro duct bank at various locations between Whistler Road and Whistler Way;
- Mainroad Contracting will be line painting and installing channelization devices between Function Junction and Lorimer Road during both day or nights shifts (weather permitting);

- Monday to Friday, 7:00am to 5:00pm: Short sections of lane shifts / diversions along the length of the work area with less than 5-minute delays for traffic control personnel assisted truck access and egress;
Saturday, October 31 and Sunday, November 1
Scheduled Work Activities:
- Various road finishing works / signage installation and site clean-up east and west side of Highway 99 at various locations between Function Junction and Village Gate Boulevard;
Traffic Control Considerations:
- Saturday, 8:00am to 5:00pm: Short sections of lane shifts / diversions along the length of the work area with less than 5-minute delays for traffic control personnel assisted truck access and egress;
Work by Others:

NOTE:
During the hours of work, construction speed zones will be in effect so remember - traffic fines double in work zones - so please slow down!
