Preparing for the 2010 Winter Games

This summer is a great chance to visit Whistler's 2010 Winter Games venues. From June 4 the Whistler Sliding Centre will be open for public self-guided tours from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Tuesday to Sunday (closed Monday) and admission for the whole family is by donation. Whistler Olympic/ Paralympic Park is already open, with self-guided sightseeing tours. On weekends from June until the end of August the park will also be offering summer programs such as ski jump tours and biathlon experience tours. Entry to the park is free and there is a small fee for tours.

Whistler Mountain Biking Underway

Diehard riders are already blazing the trails in Whistler, eagerly anticipating the opening of the Whistler Mountain Bike Park on May 16. For those looking for something at a gentler pace, the Valley Trail system is perfect for families, stretching for 35 paved kilometres and meandering past picturesque lakes, through tranquil forested areas and around pro-design golf courses, always surrounded by mountains.

World Class Hiking

Whistler has long been known as a great hiking destination, and this year the bar is raised with the summer opening of the PEAK 2 PEAK Gondola on June 6. Linking Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains for the first time during summer, the PEAK 2 PEAK Gondola offers unprecedented access to spectacular vistas and alpine hiking terrain. In addition to more than 40 kilometres of trails atop Whistler Mountain, an additional 10 kilometres of trails will be newly re-opened for hiking on top of Blackcomb Mountain this season.

Golf is In Full Swing

All four of Whistler's signature golf courses are now open and, as part of Whistler's Junior Golf Program, junior tees are provided at each course and kids can play golf for free at any of the three village-based courses when accompanied by a paying adult. Learn more about Whistler golf .
