Whistler Road Report - June 3 2009
Alpine Paving will be continuing with the installation of the Hydro duct line and manholes along the east side of the highway (adjacent to the northbound lanes) Highway 99 between Whistler Road and Nordic Drive.
In addition, Alpine will continue rock excavation works in the between Hillcrest Road and Blueberry Drive while commencing shoulder widening works on the east shoulder between Function Junction and Alta Lake Road, rock drilling in the Panorama Drive and Brio areas and construction of the eastern retaining wall from Nordic Hill to Hillcrest Road.
Please be cautious of traffic pattern changes in the area.
The following is the construction schedule and associated traffic control measures to be implemented:
JUNE 1 TO JUNE 6
Highway 99 Whistler Improvements Project - Highway 99 between Function Junction and Panorama Ridge:
- Monday to Saturday, 8:00am to 5:00pm: Short sections of lane shifts / diversions along the length of the work area with less than 5-minute delays for traffic control personnel assisted truck access and egress;
- Monday to Thursday, 10:00am to 2:00pm / Friday, 10:00am to noon: Short sections of single lane alternating traffic patterns along the length of the work area with less than 15-minutes delays for off-loading materials and pouring concrete / backfill material;
- Wednesday and Thursday, 10:00am to 2:00pm / Friday, 10:00am to noon: Alpine will be completing a test blast on Wednesday, June 3-09 at 10:00am resulting in a 15-minute delay. Upon completion of the test blast, blasting procedures will continue for the remainder of the week as required for excavation works.
JUNE 8 TO JUNE 13

- Monday to Saturday, 8:00am to 5:00pm: Short sections of lane shifts / diversions along the length of the work area with less than 5-minute delays for traffic control personnel assisted truck access and egress;
- Monday to Thursday, 10:00am to 2:00pm / Friday, 10:00am to noon: Short sections of single lane alternating traffic patterns along the length of the work area with less than 15-minutes delays for off-loading materials and pouring concrete / backfill material;
During the hours of work, construction speed zones will be in effect so remember - traffic fines double in work zones – so please slow down!
