Canadian Women's Hockey Team Dominating The Competition
With 14 seconds left on the clock in the second period of their game
with the Canadian women's Olympic hockey team Swiss forward Darcia
Leimgruber ruined the Canuck women's second shutout attempt, which ended
in a 10-1 win for the Canadians at the UBC Thunderbird Arena in
Vancouver.
The women's team were fresh off a crushing 18-0 shutout defeat over
Slovakia on Saturday, demonstrating a strong chance to take the Olympic
gold medal.
Canada out shot Switzerland 62-12 with the Swiss
struggling to maintain a solid defense against the relentless Canadian
offensive.
Shannon Szabados got the start in goal for coach
Melody Davidson's strong Olympic team, making 11 saves for Canada
against Switzerland's 12 goal attempts, Leimgruber scoring the only
shining beacon in the game for the Swiss.
The Canadian women's Olympic hockey team will face Sweden on
Wednesday, who managed a 3-0 win over Switzerland on February 13 for the
first Olympic hockey game for Vancouver 2010.
The Vancouver 2010
Olympic Games are taking place at venues in Vancouver and the resort
and accommodation
town of Whistler.
