5 Championship Golf Courses Make Whistler a Golfer's Heaven
Whistler's Golf Season Gets Into Full Swing for 2007
Whistler Golf Club's Practice and Learning Facility in Whistler Village opened its driving range on Friday,
April 13. Pemberton Valley Golf Club & Country Big Sky Golf & Country Club, both located in nearby Pemberton,
opened April 12 & 14 respectively. Whistler's three village-based signature courses - Nicklaus North Golf
Course, The Fairmont Chateau Whistler Golf Club and Whistler Golf Club - are each slated for full opening
as of May 4. BC was recently voted North America's top golf destination and Whistler
is the crown jewel for golf in the province.
Aloha Whistler provides great golf packages arranged at your request. For the PGA hopeful or the
beginner golfer, the Whistler area is host to 5 championship golf courses:
Pemberton Valley Golf & Country Club
The Pemberton Valley Golf & Country Club, BC Canada is a short
20 minute drive north of Whistler 3 kilometers east of Pemberton BC. If it's raining in Whistler it's often
bright and sunny in Pemberton. Golf one of BC’s most spectacular course settings, nestled under majestic
Mt. Currie. The Club's 18-hole championship course is a par 72 layout, 6407 yards in length with a 123-slope
rating. The Pemberton Valley Golf & Country Club offers excellent bent grass greens and an island green
on the 8th hole.
Chateau Golf Club
Designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. and opened in 1993, this par 72, 18-hole course offers a golf experience
unmatched in the region. The course traverses creeks, ponds, stands of ancient Douglas Firs and granite
rock faces, which testify to the fact that this magnificent course follows closely the natural state of
the rugged terrain.
Whistler Golf Club
Snowcapped peaks. Majestic fir trees. Invigorating mountain air. The occasional brown bear sauntering across
the green - this is the setting that inspired Arnold Palmer to choose the
Whistler Golf Club as his first Canadian design.
The Whistler Golf Club, run by Whistler Resort, is a par 72, 18 hole golf course winding past gentle mountain
streams and nine lakes that easily exceeds the expectations of the most discriminating golfer.
Nicklaus North Golf Club
Nestled next to a brilliant emerald-coloured lake among majestic fir trees. This is the setting that inspired
the great Jack Nicklaus to create a course as unique as himself. This par 71, 18-hole course winds along
a gentle valley floor offering you a spectacular setting as your golfing skills are tested to the fullest.
Just minutes from cobblestone walkways and street side cafes of the resort town of Whistler,
Nicklaus North Golf Club stands
out as one of the great courses in North America. It's no wonder this is only one of a few rare golf courses
in the world bearing Jack Nicklaus' name.
Big Sky Golf Club
Opened in July 1994, Big Sky Golf & Country Club
offers a premier golf experience for all skill levels. The course flows around seven lakes joined by a
serpentine creek at 600 feet above sea level, roughly 1,600 feet lower than the nearby ski village of Whistler.
The golf season in the Pemberton Valley banana belt runs from mid-April through mid October. Laid out in
a broad meadow free of development, Big Sky is a flatland course set amongst the mountains, not on their
slopes. As such, it's easy walking. Course conditions are excellent: The bent grass greens, tees, and fairways
are always beautifully manicured.
