What's On Whistler - March 2007
The luck of the Irish has come to Whistler early this year so be sure to include the snow gods in your
St. Patrick's Day toast. By February 20 the Whistler Blackcomb ski area surpassed its average annual snowfall
of 33 feet (1006 cm) with three months still to go in the season. Women's Week kicks off the month with
more than a week of "female fun" and promises to create new friendships and lasting memories. Off the slopes,
visitors can join the community to celebrate the three-year countdown to the 2010 Paralympic Winter Games
or check out one of the many cultural events taking place at the local theatre. With lots of amazing skiing
and snowboarding to look forward to, plus the wide variety of other winter activities such as snowmobiling,
snowshoeing, ziplining and cross-country skiing, March is shaping up to be a continuation of an epic winter.
Here are some of the highlights to look for in Whistler in March…
Women's Week | March 3 - 11, 2007
For nine action-packed days Whistler goes all out for the ladies. From women's-only ski and snowboard camps,
spa, dining and dancing to special apres ski and shopping events just for the ladies. Now is the perfect
time to leave the kids and guys at home and get away with the girls.
Triple Forte - a Classical Treat | March 3, 2007
Classical music hits the slopes with a charming evening of chamber music at Whistler's Millennium Place
on March 3 at 8 p.m. as part of the Performance Series. Each displaying exceptional virtuosity and musicality,
violinist Jasper Wood, cellist Yegor Dyachkov and pianist David Jalbert combine their musical sensitivity
in Triple Forte for this magical evening of Haydn, Mendelssohn, Shostakovich and more. The Performance
Series is presented by the Whistler Arts Council to offer affordable high quality music, theatre, dance,
comedy and children's shows featuring Canadian and international touring artists.

Countdown to 2010 Paralympic Winter Games - Community Celebration and Cultural Cabaret | March 12, 2007
Join the 2010 Information Centre to celebrate the three-year mark to the Opening Ceremony of the 2010 Paralympic
Winter Games. Activities include the official community countdown cake, sport equipment displays and visits
from local athletes. This special day is celebrated into the evening with the Celebration 2010 "Cultural
Cabaret", showcasing artistic diversity and great performances at Millennium Place.

The Arrogant Worms - Canada's Clown Princes of Musical Comedy | March 13, 2007
Using only guitar, bass, great stage presence, super-tight harmonies and the sharpest of wit, this three-man
comedy troupe is on a mission to make you laugh. The Worms have made numerous appearances at festivals
from coast-to-coast. Their live performances have a reputation for high energy, a playful atmosphere, and
unusual levels of audience participation. This is clever, clean comedy for all ages. The Worms perform
at Millennium Place on March 13, 7:30 p.m.

The Magic Flute | March 20, 2007
One of Mozart's most famous operatic masterpieces comes to the intimate stage of Millennium Place for a
rare Whistler performance presented by Jeunesses Musicales of Canada in association with the Opéra de Québec
and Camp Musical des Laurentides. The Magic Flute is a veritable fairytale peppered with initiatory pursuits,
encounters with beings larger than life, innuendo, double-entendres, and explosive reversals. In the company
of these exceptionally talented young singers, it's the perfect way to celebrate Mozart's 250th birthday.

March 23-28, 2007 | The 2007 Pontiac GMC Canadian Championships
The Pontiac GMC Championships are a grueling test of Canada's best alpine skiers. Members of the Canadian
Alpine Ski Team, provincial teams and club teams who competed on the World Cup, Europa Cup, Nor Am Cup
and Pontiac GMC Cup race circuits, come together to compete for two titles: the Pontiac GMC Cup and the
Canadian Championships. The athletes compete on Whistler Mountain's 2010 Olympic Winter Games alpine courses
in four events: Downhill, Super Giant Slalom, Slalom and Giant Slalom. Spectators can get up close and
personal with those hoping to compete in the 2010 Olympic Games as well as the 2010 Alpine Skiing venue
on Whistler Mountain.
John McDermott | March 28, 2007
One of the famous Irish Tenors, John McDermott makes a rare appearance in Whistler at Millennium Place
on March 28, lending his rich voice to both traditional folk melodies and contemporary styles. Conjuring
up a vivid emotional landscape, John's music is evocative of love, loss and history. In a music career
that has spanned nine full-length albums, three Canadian platinum records, five Juno nominations, and a
history of sold-out international tours, John McDermott's accomplishments are legendary. 7:30 p.m. on March
28.
