Spending Christmas in Whistler
With Christmas just around the corner, Whistler is starting to look more and more like the Winter Wonderland that makes this place so magical.
All the trees are decorated with lights, and it looks pretty spectacular at night.
But aside from just walking the Village stroll and looking at lights, what else is there to do?
Ok, well since you asked....
One of my favourites is the Dress Like Santa And Ski For Free day.
It looks like it will most likely be happening on Saturday December 22nd, it is pretty much exactly as it sounds.
Hundreds and Hundreds of skiers and snowboards all dressed as Santa, all coming down the hill at the same time. Depending on your outlook, it's either a really awesome sight, or extra creepy (you know, if the fat guy scared you as a kid.)
Oh... The ski free part?!
Well the first 75 people to show up to the bottom of the mountain at GLC (Garibaldi Lift co.) dressed fully in their outfit get a free day pass.
What better way to spend the day?!
(I'm pretty sure that's actually Santa on the left. And no, not all of them are dropping off toys from their hybrid "sleigh")
(It's like a Christmas version of Where's Waldo.)
Now that you have that image burned in your mind, picture all of them jumping through hoops of fire, with fireworks going off all around.
Yeah, I wish too....
Unfortunately, there aren't any Santa's jumping through hoops for the Fire and Ice show. Instead you'll have a whole whack load of professional skiers and snowboarders putting on one hell of a show.
Happening December 16, 23, 30 & January 6th (each Sunday night) this free show is most certainly one of the Family Favourites.
(Who can say no to these cute Fire wranglers ?!)
