The 16 days of Opening Day (almost better than Christmas): Day 9 - Bungee Jumping

On the 9th day of Opening day, my true love gave to me….arubber band, and 160 foot drop??

As Whistler and Whistlerites gear up for the start of anotheramazing season, in the 16 days leading up to Opening Day, I’m goingto give you 16 different ideas of some awesome things to do thiswinter season!

NUMBER 9:

Bungee Jumping!
Can you muster up the courage to stand on the ledge, looking down160 feet and convincing yourself the take the plunge?

Boasting British Columbia’s highest year-round bungeejumping venue at 53m (160 ft) above the raging riverbelow, most people get at least a butterfly or two while walking tothe middle of this bridge, and walking to the edge to be strappedin.

The Jump Masters and Operators have been doing this for 17 years, and have an unblemished safety record, which means you’re in theright hands if you want to make yourself feel like an eagle divebombing fish for a few seconds.

And yes, this is a year round, day and night activity. So spendyour day on the slopes, giving yourself the rush of powder, andthen swing by Whistler Bungee to get a taste of what jumping offthat cliff may have felt like!

The 16 days of Opening Day (almost better than Christmas): Day 10 - Ziptrek Eco Tours

On the 10th day of Opening day, my true love gave to me….anexhilarating thrill zipping between two mountains??

As Whistler and Whistlerites gear up for the start of anotheramazing season, in the 16 days leading up to Opening Day, I’m goingto give you 16 different ideas of some awesome things to do thiswinter season!

NUMBER 10:

Ziptrek Eco Tours and Tree Top adventures!
What’s more exhilarating than being attached to a cable in betweenWhistler and Blackcomb, and zooming across at up to 80km/h danglinghigh above the Valley floor below?

Your heart will be racing, and you’ll be amped to jump up onto thenext zipline across!
Don’t worry if you’re nervous approaching your first line. Mostpeople are. Once you’ve conquered the first line though, theadrenaline is flowing and you’re itching to get hooked up on thenext line and rip across once again.

I’ve known some people who had so much fun on their first tour, that once it was finished, they marched right back to the officeand signed up for the next tour on the spot!

Now if you’re the person who thinks that zipping across themountain on a cable is a preposterous idea, fret not WorrysomeWilly, there is an option for you.
The Treetop tours still give you outstanding views of the valleybelow and the mountains in the distance, all with the safety ofbridges and platforms and the much needed structure to keep youfeeling solid.

Kind of like a circus on snow.

Fireworks, Firespinners, and snowflakes. What better way to spendyour Sunday evenings.

Best of all, it’s FREE for the whole family.
It all goes down every sunday at the base of Whistler Mountainstarting at 6.30pm (between Dec 16 – Mar 3). Because of Daylightssavings time, as of March 10th the craziness starts at7.30pm.

And if you happen to not have any kids with you, make sure tocheck out AFTERBURN – The Official after party.
Once the Fire & Ice are burnt out, the night rages on atGaribaldi Lift Co. (GLC) for the infamous Afterburn Party. Livemusic from Whistler favourites The Hairfarmers, and more prize giveaways than you can shake a stick at, it is definitely a prettymemorable (or maybe so good you don’t remember) way to cap off theweek.

Just remember, after 8pm it’s adults only! Maybe time to invest ina babysitter for the night?

The only skill you need is the ability to sit back in a tube andlet yourself have the time of your life.
